The Pot Maker of Chandelao, Rajasthan

January 2, 2014  -  Cities, Towns & Villages, Men

The lighting in the morning was perfect for the shot. The sun was rising and lending a soft light into this somewhat dark room - enough to light up the potter and his work behind him.

The Potter.

The lighting in the morning was perfect for the shot. The sun was rising and lending a soft light into this somewhat dark room – enough to light up the potter and his beautiful work behind him. The room was extremely tidy for a workshop and the finished pots meticulously arranged, each made so beautifully. This was photographed about a 45 minutes drive away from the town of Chandelao. It’s not even a village but a few houses out in the desert where this potter and his family lived. Chandelao is a village 90 minutes east of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India.

Children of the Desert

February 25, 2013  -  Children

A couple of weeks back I was in a small town called Chandelao about 90 mins east of Jodhpur in Rajasthan. I had taken my group on an excursion into the Great Thar Desert on camel carts and we stopped at a small rock outcropping to have dinner under the stars. While we hung out here some village children from the desert came to see who their visitors were. They were very shy but I manage to get the following shots.
