Kolkata’s Spectacular Flower Market

February 7, 2013  -  Cities, Towns & Villages

Kolkata’s flower market is a feast for the eyes. Located below and adjacent to the Howrah bridge that spans the sacred river Ganges, the market is bustling from the wee hours of the morning. Countless vendors and buyers exchange money for flowers and countless laborers carry bales of flowers that are at least twice their weight. Here are some photos from my visit to the flower market yesterday.

Many of the laborers that work at the flower market carry heavy loads of flowers, delivering them from the suppliers trucks to the vendors in the market.
